Our History

Biking Viking is a ten year old company founded by Njall Gunnlaugsson, a motorcycle trainer in Iceland. Our first appearance in the press is an article in the Cybercyclemag webmagazine, written by Ciara Fox, published in 1999. In 2003 we had the great pleasure to welcome a crew from Cycle World magazine who rode with us for almost two weeks and the edtior, Beau Allen Pacheco, wrote a 12 page article about riding in Iceland decorated with beautiful photos from the photoeditor, Brian Blades.
Since then Biking Viking has mainly done tailormade tours in the Icelandic highland and daytours for visiting guests with the sudden urge to ride a motorcycle in our beautiful country. Up till now the tours have been on our trusty BMW F650 but for the 2008 season Biking Viking has bought six new F650GS.
For the 10th year of operation Biking Viking has joined forces with two experienced highland travellers, and since january 2008 Biking Viking is a joint venture of Njall Gunnlaugsson, Eythor Orlygsson and Ingolfur Stefansson. Ingolfur is the owner of Safaris.is in Iceland, doing highland tours on Land Rovers for many years. Eythor is an experienced off road rider and his mechanical skills are essential on the more difficult highland tours. Biking Viking has also put together new and exciting tours to celebrate the ten year anniversary.
